Tatara Razors

The name TATARA (鑪) was chosen, inspired by the furnace where swordsmiths in ancient Japan melted steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are produced through extreme dedication and detailed work.

This is combined with the obsessive precision of modern engineering. TATARA Razors takes pride in producing safety razors with rare precision and strength.

Our engineering team, located in Porto, Portugal, is a passionate team in product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceptualize, design, and develop TATARA shaving products.

We noticed market saturation in non-differential DE razors and dreamed of a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This razor is supported by goals of minimalism, design, and a smooth and effective shave.

During the product development phase, we tried several combinations such as blade gap, angle, and exposure. Among safety razor users, we understood that features like vibration and blade alignment are actually vital for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we could reinforce the accurate positioning of parts and limit blade movements between the plate and cap of the Safety razor.

However, we realized there were other variables affecting the shaving experience!

We knew we could help wet shaving and we had found our mission!
