The Masamune Razor is Tatara's first razor. It has the appearance of a classic razor but is designed with unique touches that look to the future. Thanks to its minimalist design, it conveys our vision to you with purity, elegance, and simplicity.

The Masamune razor provides a smooth and efficient shave thanks to its small blade gap.

The closed comb head is the most preferred head type with a smooth structure. It is designed with small grooves along the edges of the plate so that the skin is less exposed to the blade.

With a quality and craftsmanship far beyond what is visible, and a special blade locking system that prevents any blade trembling or movement, it is extremely suitable for those who shave daily.

It is made of 303 (AISI 303) Steel. It weighs 85 grams.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths used in ancient Japan to smelt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to imagine, design, and develop TATARA's shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This, strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safe razor users, we perceived that features such as vibration and blade alignment are, in fact, very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can enforce the correct positioning of the pieces and limit the blade movements between the plate and the cap of the razor.

However, we realized other variables still affect the shaving experience!

Unique assembly system and durability — The perfect perpendicularity between the handle and the head ensures blade stability and reduces the risk of vibration/ringing.
