Amakuni 50 mm Single Edge is a new model from TATARA's "single edge" razor series, notable for its large and wide plate.

With a 50 mm plate width, it covers larger areas in a single pass, saving time, especially for those with wider facial features. Its stainless steel body is combined with minimalist lines, offering aesthetics, robustness, and functionality simultaneously.

The Amakuni razor is Tatara's first single edge razor meticulously designed for optimal use with single edge blades. Engineered for precision and agility, it appeals to those who prefer the Artist Club (AC) blade type.

With its two-piece construction and magnetic mechanisms that allow for effortless blade insertion and removal, the AMAKUNI embodies elegant simplicity. Its flowing curves and subtle recesses combine in a stylish and effective head, providing a precise and agile shaving experience.

Its perfect balance adapts to different AC blade smoothness levels, offering you the flexibility to find the optimal blend of performance and comfort.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. We combine this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not distinct, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This is strongly supported by minimalism and design, with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we realized that features like vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the correct positioning of parts and limit blade movements between the razor's base plate and cap.

However, we realized there were other variables still affecting the shaving experience!

We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we found our mission!
