Amakuni 50 mm Single Edge is a new model from TATARA's "single-edge" razor series, notable for its large and wide plate.
Thanks to its 50 mm plate width, it covers larger areas in a single pass, saving time, especially for those with wider facial features. Its stainless steel body, combined with minimalist lines, offers aesthetics, durability, and functionality simultaneously.
The Amakuni razor is Tatara's first single-edge razor, meticulously designed for optimal use with single-edge blades. Engineered for precision and agility, it appeals to those who prefer the Artist Club (AC) blade type.
With its two-piece construction and magnetic mechanisms that allow for effortless blade insertion and removal, AMAKUNI represents an elegant simplicity. Its flowing curves and subtle concavities converge in a stylish and effective head, offering a precise and agile shaving experience.
Its perfect balance adapts to different AC blade smoothness levels, giving you the flexibility to find the optimum blend of performance and comfort.
Compatible with 50 mm AC (Artist Club) single-edge blades.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths used to melt steel for Samurai swords in ancient Japan. Our products, like Japanese katanas, are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.
Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.
Noticing a market saturation in indistinguishable DE razors, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This, strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.
During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features like vibration and blade alignment are, in fact, very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.
By assuring machining tolerances (0,02 mm), we can enforce the proper seating of parts and limit the blade movements between the razor’s plate and cap.
However, we realized there are other variables that still impact the shaving experience!
We knew we could help the wet shaving community, and we had found our mission!
