Tatara's Masamune Nodachi Top Cap is a component developed for users who desire a powerful and close shave. Manufactured from stainless steel with CNC machining, this cap offers secure use by fixing the blade between the base plate. Thanks to the Nodachi geometry, the razor stands in a more prominent position, and with positive blade exposure, it is felt more distinctly on the skin. This makes it ideal especially for those who want a closer, sharper, and more aggressive shave.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths used in ancient Japan to smelt steel for Samurai swords. Just like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This is strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safe razor users, we perceived that features such as vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.

By providing machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the precise placement of parts and limit blade movements between the razor's plate and cap.

However, we realized there were other variables that still affected the shaving experience!

We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we had found our mission!
