TATARA Hakkında
The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master smiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. We combine this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.
Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to imagine, design, and develop TATARA's shaving products.
Noticing a market saturation in undifferentiated DE razors, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This is strongly supported by minimalism and design, with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.
During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features like vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.
By providing machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can ensure proper placement of the parts and limit blade movements between the razor's plate and cap.
However, we noticed other variables that still affected the shaving experience!
We knew we could assist with wet shaving and had found our mission!
To create exceptionally long-lasting products in a sustainable way and provide an enjoyable and comfortable shaving experience.
