Masamune Nodachi Open Comb Base Plate - Steel
The Tatara Masamune Nodachi Open Comb Base Plate is designed to offer maximum performance for dense and thick beards.
Made of stainless steel, this base plate positions the blade at the correct angle and aligns with the handle thanks to Tatara's unique "T" slot system.
The open comb design guides the beard directly to the blade and allows more lather to remain on the face, enhancing slickness and comfort.
With the wide blade gap provided by the Nodachi geometry, it delivers an aggressive, close, and effective shaving experience.

It is covered by a lifetime warranty against rust and manufacturing defects.

TATARA About
The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. We combine this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.
Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to imagine, design, and develop TATARA's shaving products.
Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not distinct, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This was strongly supported by minimalism and design, with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.
During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we realized that features such as vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.
By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the precise placement of parts and limit blade movements between the razor's base plate and cap.
However, we noticed other variables that still affect the shaving experience!
We knew we could contribute to wet shaving, and we found our mission!
To create exceptionally long-lasting products sustainably and provide an enjoyable and comfortable shaving experience.
