The Tatara Shaving Towel is made from high-quality cotton with 600 g/m2 and a single yarn for extra softness and absorbency.

This minimalist towel features a high cotton grammage to provide a unique touch, immense absorption capacity, and an unparalleled feeling of softness to the touch.

Its size has been carefully considered to wrap the face with maximum comfort during shaving, to moisturize before starting to shave, or to dry after each shave.

Face towels are usually placed outside the tub, next to the sink, so we ensured the towel has a hanging side where the hand-stitched logo can be seen even after being hung.

Quality 100% cotton towels shed a little lint during the first use. This is due to the use of low-twist yarns, which provide great softness in use. Therefore, to balance the shedding of your towels, we recommend machine washing them three times in cold water before the first use.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master smiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Just like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.

Perceiving a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This strongly supported by minimalism and design and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features such as vibration and blade alignment are, in fact, very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02mm), we can strengthen the precise placement of the parts and limit blade movements between the razor’s plate and cap.

However, we realized other variables still affect the shaving experience!
