In the Mantuan countryside, there is still someone who continues to produce handmade luxury umbrellas and export them to every corner of the world, using a brand name that will celebrate its 65th anniversary: Pasotti.
The company stands out for its creativity and consistent research into materials, all exclusively Italian: enameled brass handles, Swarovski® crystals, precious silk fabrics, and magnificent decorations.
“The company was founded in 1956,” says the owner, Mrs. Eva Giacomini, “by my mother, Ernesta Pasotti, who started producing one-of-a-kind umbrellas that she sold directly, sometimes even going around by bicycle. Later, together with my father, Vittorio, who mainly handled sales, the company transformed from a small artisan company to a large one with over a hundred employees. Today, as there is no longer room for such industrial production, we have downsized and are mainly focusing on limited-edition umbrellas. We produce 40,000 handmade umbrellas a year: very high-quality products sold in the most prestigious boutiques in 75 countries. 93% of our turnover is made abroad, mainly in Europe, North America, Russia, and China. In addition to the Pasotti collection, we are proud of a series of private label collaborations with the most fashionable brands worldwide.”
And thanks to the new generation, Nicola and Andrea Begotti, the overseas market is truly continuing to grow, participating in the most important fashion weeks and investing heavily in the Web, thereby increasing brand awareness.
Italian luxury umbrella production lives on from generation to generation.
