It is a type of brush that allows the user to adjust the bristle length (loft). This adjustment also allows the user to customize the stiffness and softness of the bristles to their preference.

For example, while longer bristles are needed for lathering in a bowl, shorter bristles can be more practical if you are lathering on your face. With this shaving brush, which has 1-2-3 settings, you can adjust the bristle length as you wish according to your needs.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths used in ancient Japan to smelt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

We are an engineering team based in Porto, Portugal, passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in unvaried DE razors, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This, strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features like vibration and blade alignment are, in fact, very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the correct placement of the parts, limiting the blade movements between the razor's plate and cap.

However, we realized that there were other variables that still impacted the shaving experience!

We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we had found our mission!

To create remarkably long-lasting products in a sustainable way and provide an enjoyable and comfortable shaving experience.
