Tatara's Muramasa Adjustable Brush Head – Synthetic Bristle version; it is a fast-drying, vegan alternative with high water retention capacity. It is used by attaching it to the Muramasa Adjustable Brush handle; thanks to the loft (bristle length) adjustment, the preference for stiffness or softness can be personalized.

Thanks to its synthetic bristle structure, it produces high lather and is easy to maintain. When used with the handle, it offers a simple aesthetic and a premium grip.

The Synthetic Shaving Brush offers excellent lathering and exfoliating properties for a comfortable shave. It is also easy to maintain as it dries quickly and does not require maintenance like natural bristle brushes.

We did not settle for standard synthetic bristles available on the market. Instead, through our dedicated work, we developed a brush with optimum fiber density, an extraordinary lathering ability, and outstanding water retention, striking a unique balance between backbone and softness. The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This strongly supported by minimalism and design and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that characteristics such as vibration and blade alignment are, in fact, very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the correct seating of the pieces and limit the blade movements between the razor’s plate and cap.

However, we realized there are other variables that still influence the shaving experience!

We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we found our mission!

Customizable stiffness/softness — the length of the bristles can be changed with loft adjustment; a longer bristle structure provides a softer and more flexible feel; a smaller loft provides a firmer structure and more control.
