Head Anatomy

Mühle's closed-comb machines are safe structures where there is a safety bar between the razor and the skin, where the razor can only touch the skin at a certain angle (30-45 degrees range). Since the Razor blade is behind the safety bar and cannot contact the skin directly, it can be easily used by those who will use a classic razor for the first time, and provides a shave that is performance but does not tire the skin in daily shaving.

Mühle's razors with closed-comb can be used by anyone new to traditional shaving. All closed comb razors have the same head and are offered with different handle designs. All are designed by calculating the optimum balance-maneuverability and grip ergonomics.

The most traditional (and yes, perhaps the most beautiful) form of shaving is the classic shaving ritual (also called a safety razor). It requires some practice and a certain degree of resourcefulness. However, someone who has mastered this process after a few (dry) attempts will never want to shave the other way in the future.

The MÜHLE factory offers two types of razors: the open comb version, which requires a direct forward shaving technique, and the closed comb version, which is very gentle and precise. Great freedom of choice: The handles of these products are available in chrome-plated metal, black, premium resin and tortoiseshell imitation with a finely machined twist-line structure. Shaving brushes are compatible with gray badger hair and Silvertip Fiber® synthetic bristle, as well as three elegant handle models complete the set. Finally, do you think traditional shaving is the best of all? In addition, razors and shaving brushes are best travel companions thanks to their ideal size. The shaving brushes of the series have a knot diameter of 21 mm.

Chrom
Without chrome the world would forfeit a lot of its lustre. In the finish used for our wet shaving accessories it demonstrates its best qualities: The material is corrosion-resistant, very long-lasting and has a luxurious, alluring lustre. When contrasted with this, the colours and shapes of other premium materials are shown to their very best advantage.

HOW TO USE A RAZOR?

Moisten the shaving zone – the face and neck – with warm to hot water.

Make a loose lather from shaving soap or cream with the brush, apply in gentle strokes and enjoy the massage effect, then allow to take effect for one or two minutes. Shaving with a safety razor requires a little practice. The skin also needs some time to grow accustomed to the shave. Getting started will be easier if you follow these instructions:

Step 1:

Moisten the beard area, preferably with warm water, and lather it thoroughly with a brush. If possible, use a highly effective moisturising shaving cream or soap. This will allow the blade to slide over the skin more easily. Make sure that the razor head and handle are firmly attached to each other, but only tighten the screw to the extent that it can be unscrewed without much effort.

Step 2:

Now begin with the shave. Hold the safety razor at an obtuse angle (approx. 30°) to the skin. Start with the cheeks and allow the razor to slide over the skin, applying gentle pressure. Always shave in the direction of the beard growth (with the grain).

Step 3:

When shaving the neck, stretch the skin tight with your free hand. Do not be discouraged by small cuts or grazes. Once you have familiarised yourself with the razor, they will rarely occur. For practised shavers: by slightly loosening the handle (approx. ½ a revolution) the angle of the blade is increased. This enables you to shave very cleanly in contours. Always tighten the handle before continuing with the rest of the shave. We recommend our rust-proof MÜHLE razor blades which are the perfect match for our safety razors.

Rinse - moisturize: Rinse your skin with cold water after shaving, moisturize, nourish and refresh with an aftershave balm or aftershave.
