The Companion razor is Mühle's first classic razor designed for body, hair, and face, irrespective of gender.

It has a design that allows both women and men to get a safe shave for their body, hair, and face, even when using it for the first time. Classic razors are often preferred by environmentally conscious individuals as they offer plastic-free, economical, and more performant shaving.

Shaving Characteristics

During the design process, the focus was on protective features, providing more protection against nicks and cuts compared to other classic razors.
There are lines on both sides of the top plate that allow female and male users to find the ideal angle. This way, if the angle of the handle to the skin is less than 30° or greater than 50°, the rails on the razor head create a greater distance between the blade and the skin, reducing the risk of cuts or nicks during shaving.
To ensure a smooth and gentle shave, skin exposure to the blade is kept to a minimum.
Additionally, for body or head shaving, the razor has protective flaps on its dull edges to prevent unintentional cuts or nicks to the skin.
It provides a milder shave than known Mühle closed comb models (such as the R89).

Companion

The Companion razor is Mühle's first classic razor, designed for gender-neutral use on the body, hair, and face.

Its patented extra-safe head design gives the razor a smooth appearance and significantly reduces the risk of cuts during body shaving. As a unique design feature, it has a slightly longer handle. This is designed for the razor to fit particularly well in the hand and provide ideal results when shaving legs.

It is designed so that both women and men can achieve a safe shave for the body, hair, and face, even on their first use. Classic razors are often preferred by environmentally conscious individuals for offering a plastic-free, economical, and higher-performing shave.

A pure cotton cord is attached to the end of the Companion's handle. It is available in coral, turquoise, blue, and gray. This allows you to hang the razor and easily access it.

It was developed for those seeking a true unisex product without compromising on sustainability and zero waste. The handle is made of non-slip stainless steel, and the head has a metal-chrome plated matte finish.

How to Use

Use and Tips

- In traditional shaving, preparation is crucial. The skin and beard should be softened during preparation, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened with whipped cream-like shaving lather, preferably (ideally) using a shaving brush. Moving the shaving brush with lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it inside the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is a 3-piece, it will open by twisting its head. If it is a 2-piece, it will open by twisting the mechanism on the handle.

- Then, begin shaving. Razors with closed combs only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot make direct contact with the skin. They shorten the beard by cutting it, so you need to do a layered shave. It's important to shave according to the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as your beard grows. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheek, it may vary on the neck. The direction of beard growth is unique for each man and cannot be changed by the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Hold the razor gently by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Allow it to glide with the lather and blade. For those new to traditional shaving, our primary goal is a irritation-free shave, not necessarily a perfectly clean one. As you get accustomed to it (approximately 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will naturally follow. Do not go over the same spot repeatedly.

- After the first pass, reapply lather to your face with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction or diagonally for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. It's important to soothe this impact after shaving. Aftershave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you experience problems such as dryness, itching, or redness, use a balm. If you don't encounter such discomforts, you can use a lotion for a lighter effect. Using both is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can lead to unwanted situations like irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal parts can cause screw deformation, so please avoid this. Oiling the metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will add value to the lifespan of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper wrapper. Mühle razors are made from stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend prolonged contact of the surface with a rusty blade.

- Although the average number of uses for double-edge blades is 4-5, this depends directly on the razor used, the frequency of shaving, the blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, the number of uses is unique to each person. Change the blade as soon as you feel it pulling rather than cutting your beard. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.
