Tatara's Masamune Nodachi Top Cap is a component developed for users who desire a powerful and close shave. Manufactured from stainless steel with CNC machining, this cap offers safe use by securing the blade between the bottom plate. Thanks to the Nodachi geometry, the razor stands in a more prominent position and is more noticeably felt on the skin with positive blade exposure. This makes it ideal especially for those who want a closer, sharper, and more aggressive shave.

It is covered by a lifetime warranty against rust and manufacturing defects.

The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. We combine this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to imagine, design, and develop TATARA's shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dared to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This is strongly supported by minimalism and design, with the aim of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we realized that features such as vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the correct placement of parts and limit blade movements between the razor's plate and cap.

However, we realized that there are other variables that still affect the shaving experience!

We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we had found our mission!

Correct alignment: The protrusions pass through the razor's holes and settle into the base plate slots.
Stable angle and powerful cut: Thanks to the Nodachi geometry, the blade is fixed at a specific angle, offering a more aggressive cut.
Positive blade exposure – more blade feel: The blade's protruding structure is felt more on the skin; provides a closer and more powerful shave.
