Tatara's Masamune Synthetic Brush is a vegan and hypoallergenic alternative that contains no animal-derived materials. Its synthetic fiber technology quickly creates a creamy lather that remains on the face for a long time.

The handle, CNC machined from stainless steel with a sandblasted finish, offers both aesthetics and high durability, providing comfort and a premium feel during use. It is coated with black PVD.

The Synthetic Shaving Brush offers excellent lathering and exfoliating properties for a comfortable shave. It is also easy to maintain as it dries quickly and does not require the same care as natural bristle brushes.

We were not satisfied with standard synthetic bristles on the market. Instead, through our dedicated efforts, we developed a brush with optimum fiber density that creates a unique balance between backbone and softness, offering exceptional lathering ability and outstanding water retention. The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.

Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.

Noticing a market saturation in DE razors that were not different, we dare to conceive a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.

During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features like vibration and blade alignment are actually very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.

By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the accurate placement of the pieces and limit blade movements between the razor’s plate and the cap.

However, we realized other variables that still affect the shaving experience!

We knew we could help wet shaving and we had found our mission!
