Masamune Nodachi Closed Comb Bottom Piece - Steel
The Tatara Masamune Nodachi Closed Comb Base Plate is designed for users who desire a powerful and close shave. Made from stainless steel, this base plate positions the blade at the correct angle thanks to Tatara's unique "T" slot system and works in harmony with the handle.
Its closed comb design limits blade exposure, providing a skin-friendly shave, while the Nodachi geometry offers a more effective cut with a higher blade gap.
Prepared with CNC machining and hand finishing, this part guarantees durability and high quality.
Blade gap: 0.90 mm
It is covered by a lifetime warranty against rust and manufacturing defects.

TATARA About
The name TATARA (鑪) is inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.
Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We got together in September 2016 to conceive, design, and develop TATARA’s shaving products.
Noticing a market saturation in uninspiring DE razors, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). This, strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.
During product development, we experimented with various combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features such as vibration and blade alignment are actually very important for achieving a comfortable and smooth shave.
By ensuring machining tolerances (0.02mm), we can reinforce the correct placement of the parts and limit blade movements between the razor’s plate and cap.
However, we realized that there are other variables that still affect the shaving experience!
We knew we could help wet shaving, and we had found our mission!
To create exceptional long-lasting products in a sustainable way and provide an enjoyable and comfortable shaving experience.
What does it do

T-Slot guide system: Ensures the blade is seated at the correct angle and securely.

Stable blade angle: Thanks to the geometry of the top cap and bottom plate, blade deformation is minimized, and vibration is prevented.

Closed comb structure: Reduces skin irritation with less blade exposure, ensuring a safe shave.

More aggressive performance: Thanks to Nodachi's special 0.90 mm blade gap, it provides a deeper and closer shave compared to Masamune.
