After the iron borders in the Soviet bloc were removed and the companies started to be privatized, Gillette bought the Astra company, which had expertise in blades in 1996. As expected, the Astra brand spread to the world in a very short time. Razors previously produced in the Czech Republic are now produced in Russia by P&G.
