Cella (pronounced Chella) is a masterpiece, a marvel in the world of shaving. Perhaps like jumping from warm beaches to cold shores. Fresh, warm. It's a rare piece that will always hold a special place for me, as it was my first shaving cream. This brand, which began its adventure in 1899, set the norm in Italy's shaving world, and the gold medal they received in 1906 was the cherry on top. Cella Milano, which reinforced this success with the "Industrial Value" award in Sanremo in 1908, is a well-established brand celebrating its 121st year as of this year. This shaving cream, which made even someone like me, who dislikes the scent of bitter almond, accustomed to and even fond of it, has been the main reason for me to buy bitter almond cookies ever since :)
It smells so good, so natural that you want to open it and smell it, you want to spread it on bread, but what makes Cella Cella is the moisturizing in its formula, which has not changed since its establishment. As much as Arko dries your face, Cella moisturizes it. It is inevitable that you will feel the difference in the medium and long term. So, what are the features that make Cella worth buying? Presentation
Cella Milano, coming in a 150 gr. hard plastic container, switched to hard plastic containers due to the needs of barbers (difficulty of using gas masks with beards) and the popularization of safety razors and shaving culture after World War I, and has continued its production with traditional methods, using the Mr. Felice (Mr. Happy) logo, which they still use. Although it provides the possibility of lathering in the plastic container, it is unfortunately not recommended for long-term use as the water in the brush will accumulate in the bottom part of the container and cause spoilage. You can remove it from its container and apply it to your face by grating it (breaking it into small pieces with a grater) or by lathering it in a bowl with a spoon.
Scent and Content
Cella greets you with its wonderful bitter almond scent. The scent diminishes over time depending on use, but it remains in your brushes. Yes, I smell my brushes after shaving :) Unlike in the bowl, it is less noticeable in foam form. This baby balm-like scent does not overpower the scent of the aftershave lotion or balm you apply after shaving. Even if you don't use lotion or balm, it can be felt for approximately 2-3 hours. As with all tallow-based creams and soaps, Cella, which stands out with its protection and moisturizing properties, reduces irritation and helps the skin recover faster with its coconut oil and sweet almond oil enriched content.
Shaving Performance
First, when you open the container, you will see a soft soap-like consistency. You can take your brush, which you have kept in hot water (not boiling water) for a few minutes, from the container to your lathering bowl with a spatula or a teaspoon and continue lathering there. It is worth noting that it is a water-loving cream. That's why it's best to add water little by little when adjusting the water or to start lathering directly with your brush that you have already warmed up. The foam, which is initially very bubbly, will become denser and thicker over time. Considering that the traditional expression for loading is "load like you hate it", it should be remembered that the more soap, the more lather for more passes. Since it is a cream with good foam density, one teaspoon will be enough. More is up to your preference for a foam party :)
For lathering, you can choose any of the following brush options: Nom Boar, Mühle Silvertip, or Synthetic Fibre.
