The leather of CUIR OTTOMAN is rubbed with powdery iris, then warmed with cistus and burnt styrax, and steeped in a dizzying oriental base of Tolu balsam, benzoin resin, and frankincense tears... Egyptian jasmine adds richness to the heart; vanilla and tonka bean also add their delicate touches.
From here, it set off towards the Ottoman Empire, drawing inspiration from the leather processing tradition in Anatolia – until the 19th century, Turkish leather was one of the most sought-after in Europe. To lighten the smell of the finest leathers, powdery notes often used were combined with iris, which already has leathery facets.
Maintaining its theme, the iris and leather accord was kneaded with frankincense tears and benzoin, calling upon the vanilla facets found in vanilla's structure to add vanilla – along with cistus, it is the core of oriental perfumes. Tonka bean brings its sweet touch: its tobacco aspect strengthens the leather accord and evokes the lazy coolness of hookah smoke. To make this oriental leather even more dizzying, it is wrapped in narcotic white-fleshed Egyptian jasmine, as rich and magnificent as the odalisques painted by Delacroix, Ingres, and Matisse...
