Mühle Safety Razor Rocca - R 96

ROCCA- razor blade, closed comb, stainless steel, matt black chrome plated brass handle

This package includes Rocca safety razor and 1 Mühle razor blade. Click here to buy 10 blades.

This razor is made of stainless steel. It is all stainless steel and not plated.

  • Size: 41mm x 105mm
  • Weight: 80 g

ROCCA is between our closed comb (R 89) machines, which provide a very soft shave in level, and our aggressive open comb (R41) machines that shave close to the razor. Our users, who are looking for tools that are a little softer than open comb tools and as soft as closed comb tools, will enjoy a perfect shave with this machine. We recommend you our Mühle blade razors that work in perfect harmony with our razor blades.

ROCCA

Beautifully simple, yet particularly masculine: This is the new ROCCA range of products. A little more modern, and more distinctive than much of what is known from MÜHLE, they are made from the finest and most durable stainless steel. But it has been worth the effort: These products are particularly durable and robust.
The satin or slightly matt finish not only feels good in your hand, but is also pleasing to the eye and creates an elegant effect.
Even with all of these new details, ROCCA's heritage is still very evident. The design of this range is a further development of classic MÜHLE models; the name ROCCA (from the Italian for castle or fort) refers to the very best materials – and also to the fact that a MÜHLE product will last a lifetime and beyond.

No frills, but with fine extras: The ROCCA razor could not be clearer or more masculine. Its uninterrupted lines from attachment to base make it both beautiful and practical: Thanks to its ergonomic shape and the surface structure of the handle, it feels good in your hand. As connoisseurs say: It has grip. It turns an everyday ritual into a daily design experience.

The surface structure of the black handle is a modern interpretation of the knurl on the handle of a classic safety razor. The honeycomb-like structure not only provides a contrasting accent to the satin-finished stainless steel, but is also very tactile, offering excellent grip.

HOW TO USE A RAZOR?

Moisten the shaving zone – the face and neck – with warm to hot water.

Make a loose lather from shaving soap or cream with the brush, apply in gentle strokes and enjoy the massage effect, then allow to take effect for one or two minutes. Shaving with a safety razor requires a little practice. The skin also needs some time to grow accustomed to the shave. Getting started will be easier if you follow these instructions:

Step 1:

Moisten the beard area, preferably with warm water, and lather it thoroughly with a brush. If possible, use a highly effective moisturising shaving cream or soap. This will allow the blade to slide over the skin more easily.  Make sure that the razor head and handle are firmly attached to each other, but only tighten the screw to the extent that it can be unscrewed without much effort.

Step 2:

Now begin with the shave. Hold the safety razor at an obtuse angle (approx. 30°) to the skin. Start with the cheeks and allow the razor to slide over the skin, applying gentle pressure.  Always shave in the direction of the beard growth (with the grain).

Step 3:

When shaving the neck, stretch the skin tight with your free hand. Do not be discouraged by small cuts or grazes. Once you have familiarised yourself with the razor, they will rarely occur.  For practised shavers: by slightly loosening the handle (approx. ½ a revolution) the angle of the blade is increased. This enables you to shave very cleanly in contours.  Always tighten the handle before continuing with the rest of the shave. We recommend our rust-proof MÜHLE razor blades which are the perfect match for our safety razors.

Rinse - moisturize: Rinse your skin with cold water after shaving, moisturize, nourish and refresh with an aftershave balm or aftershave.

Mühle razors are compatible with double-edge blades of all brands. We recommend our razor blades that work in perfect harmony with our traditional razors.

MÜHLE About
Take time for yourself, enjoy a moment of peace and quiet, and leave the hustle and bustle of the new day at the bathroom door. About Design

Rocca

Beautiful and distinctly masculine… It has a more modern design and more defined lines than Mühle’s well-known products. It is made from the highest quality and most durable stainless steel. The effort is well worth it: the products are especially robust and long-lasting. The satin or very fine matte finish makes you feel good not only when you touch it, but also when you look at its elegant and pleasing appearance.

The shave provided by Rocca series tools is unique. In terms of aggressiveness, it sits between well-known closed comb razors and open comb razors. It is more aggressive than closed comb razors, and gentler than open comb razors, yet it still offers a close shave suitable for daily use. Rocca is famous for providing a close shave with the utmost comfort, thanks to its ergonomics and special blade angle. Its excellent audible feedback is truly worth experiencing!

With all these details, the legacy you will leave with Rocca is quite evident. Its design was achieved by further developing classic Mühle models. The name Rocca (Italian for castle) signifies the best materials and also that a Mühle product will stay with you for a lifetime.

It is offered in four different designs: birchwood, matte steel, black honeycomb structured steel, and DLC black coating. Aside from the design differences, the head and grip ergonomics are completely identical.

How to Use

Use and Tips

- In traditional shaving, preparation is important. The skin and beard should be softened during preparation for shaving, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened with the whipped cream-like shaving lather, preferably (ideally) with the help of a shaving brush. Moving the brush with lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it inside the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is a 3-piece design, it will open by twisting its head; if it's a 2-piece design, it will open by twisting the part on the handle.

- Then, start shaving. Closed comb razors only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot make direct contact with the skin. They shorten the beard by cutting it, which is why you need to do a veiled shave. It is important to shave in the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as the beard growth. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheek, it may vary on the neck. Every man has a different beard growth direction, and this cannot be changed with the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Gently hold the razor by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Let it glide with the lather and blade. For those new to traditional shaving, our primary goal is a irritation-free shave, not necessarily a close one. As you get used to it (after about 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will come naturally. Do not go over the same area multiple times.

- After the first pass, apply lather to your face again with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction or, for a closer shave, shave diagonally (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it is important to soothe this impact. Aftershave products contain ingredients with high soothing properties. If you have problems such as dryness, itching, or redness, use balm. If you do not experience such discomfort, you can use lotion for a lighter effect. The combined use of both is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted situations such as irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal parts can cause screw deformation; please avoid doing so. Oiling the metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will add value to the lifespan of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper. Mühle razors are made of stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend prolonged contact of the surface with a rusty blade.

- While the average number of uses for double-edge blades is 4-5, this depends directly on the razor used, frequency of shaving, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, the number of uses is unique to each individual. Change the blade as soon as you feel it pulling rather than cutting your beard. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.
