We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Mühle's world-famous open comb razor R41 with a new design!

Only ten years old but has quickly become a legend: The R 41 gets along well with true traditional shaving enthusiasts who have a definite instinct and passions. Until now, the open comb classic safety razor shone in a traditional chrome look. But on its tenth anniversary, the R 41 is now also available in stainless steel in response to user demands! It also comes as a GRANDE version with a slightly longer, more voluminous handle and a few more grams, making it particularly comfortable to hold. The legendary R 41, with polished stainless steel, in its usual shiny appearance!

The head and handle are entirely made of particularly durable material, surgical steel quality. Classic razors, where you choose the blade, are a revolution in wet shaving and are now one of the most classic shaving accessories. But at Mühle, there's more to it than that: ergonomics created for passionate wet shavers, perfect maneuverability with an optimized center of gravity, and of course, excellent craftsmanship...

After a little practice, no one who masters the ritual can continue life without a classic razor! Standardized double-edge blades, available for decades, can now be obtained from many places much more easily than before.

Our models are presented with high-quality chrome plating. They are combined with elegant and high-quality resin in classic metallic, black, or brown colors. An exclusive option is a rose gold-plated handle.

The brushes of the shaving sets are produced with pure badger or Silvertip Fibre bristles and are presented as a complete set with a shaving set stand. The shaving brush heads are replaceable. You can purchase a spare brush head and use your brush with a different type of bristle or refresh it.

How to Use

Use and Tips

- In traditional shaving, preparation is important. For preparation, the skin and beard should be softened, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened with whipped cream-like shaving foam, preferably (ideally) with the help of a shaving brush. Moving the brush with lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it into the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is 3-piece, it will open by twisting its head; if it's 2-piece, it will open by twisting the mechanism on the handle.

- Then start shaving. Open-comb razors can directly contact the skin without a safety bar. They shorten the beard by cutting it, so you need to shave in passes. It's important to shave according to the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as the beard growth. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheeks, it may vary on the neck. The direction of beard growth is different for every man and cannot be changed with the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Gently hold the razor by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Let it glide with the lather and blade. For beginners in traditional shaving, our primary goal is a irritation-free shave, not necessarily a completely clean one. As you get used to it (after about 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will come naturally. Do not go over the same spot repeatedly.

- After the first pass, apply lather to your face again with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction or in a cross-grain direction for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it's important to soothe this impact. Post-shave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you have problems like dryness, itching, or redness, use a balm. If you don't experience such discomforts, you can use a lotion for a lighter effect. Using both together is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted situations like irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal parts will cause screw deformation; please do not do this. Oiling the metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will add value to the lifespan of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper. Mühle razors are made of stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend prolonged contact of the surface with a rusty blade.

- The average number of uses for razor blades is 4-5, but this depends directly on the razor used, frequency of shaving, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, each person's usage count is unique. Change the blade as soon as you feel it pulling your beard instead of cutting it. Do not shave with a dull blade, it causes irritation.
