Mühle Safety Razor - R 226 SR

Mühle Safety Razor - closed comb - R 226 SR

The Mühle R226SR razor is a medium-aggressive safety razor that is in the bathroom of anyone with a traditional shaver, providing the most effective daily shaving result.

This razor consists of 3 parts (upper head - lower head - handle). The machine can be opened by turning its head, and you can put the razor blade between the two heads and then closed.

The head is changeable. In other words, you can turn your closed-comb machine into an aggressive open-comb machine with only head replacement. The same can be applied when there is a change from 3-piece open-comb machines to closed-comb machines.

The head of the closed comb razors can be changed by purchasing a open comb head. The head of the open comb razors can be changed by purchasing a closed comb head.

The Material - High-grade resin

High-grade resin is a high-quality synthetic material, the surface of which is processed and refined separately. The material is ideal for exclusive accessories and writing implements because it facilitates a broad spectrum of modern and classical designs in many attractive colours.

To begin with, the aesthetic basic shapes for brush and razor handles are turned out of solid rods. Then each individual work piece is polished in several passes to give the surface its special gleam. This processing method lends the models a pleasant feel and secures their beauty for many years to come.

Head Anatomy

Mühle's closed-comb machines are safe structures where there is a safety bar between the razor and the skin, where the razor can only touch the skin at a certain angle (30-45 degrees range). Since the Razor blade is behind the safety bar and cannot contact the skin directly, it can be easily used by those who will use a classic razor for the first time, and provides a shave that is performance but does not tire the skin in daily shaving.

Mühle's razors with closed-comb can be used by anyone new to traditional shaving. All closed comb razors have the same head and are offered with different handle designs. All are designed by calculating the optimum balance-maneuverability and grip ergonomics.

To whom are Mühle closed-comb razors are recommended?

For users new to traditional shaving

For daily shaving users

For users who are not satisfied with the cartridge Razor blades in daily shaving.

For users who suffer from ingrown hairs after daily shaving

Users who experience irritation, dryness and itching after shaving due to the razor used in daily shaving,

So what is the open-comb structure? What is the difference with closed structure? It is important to know the difference between the two builds to make sure that the razor you buy is right for you.

There is no safety bar in Mühle's open-head shavers. It has a open tooth comb structure instead of the safety bar, and due to the difference of the blade bend angle, the razor can contact the skin directly and at a right angle. They are very close shaving machines that require hand habit. Due to its open tooth comb structure, the beards get inside the comb and the razor can cut the beard closer to the skin.

Why do you need it?

  • Provides a performance and trouble-free shave that does not tire the skin in daily shaving.
  • Since it cuts the beard not from the bottom in one go, but by reducing it, it prevents problems such as ingrown hair and irritation that can be encountered in daily shaving.
  • It protects you and nature as it is an environmentally friendly shaver without plastic waste.
  • Since the razor is the only consumable, it is much more economical in the long run.
  • It is not a disposable razor. As long as you are well cared for, it serves you for a lifetime.
  • It is made of stainless zinc.

About Design

RYTMO

The Rytmo series is the epitome of striking and timeless design. The conical form is complemented by the distinctive collar at the chrome-plated base. As with other Mühle designs, these Rytmo designs ensure the piece sits perfectly when hung in its stand.

The Rytmo series is available in high-grade resin in black and blue, or in natural ash wood. All colour and material varieties are accentuated by the particularly brilliant, chrome-plated base.

In the stand design, a narrow plastic edge has been directly incorporated into the metal. This piece guarantees that you have an optimal brush and razor, whilst simultaneously preventing the glossy chrome surface from being scratched.

How to Use

Use and Tips

- In traditional shaving, preparation is crucial. For shaving preparation, the skin and beard should be softened, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened with whipped cream-like shaving lather, preferably (ideally) with the help of a shaving brush. Moving the brush with lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it inside the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is a 3-piece type, it will open by twisting its head. If it's a 2-piece type, it will open by twisting the mechanism on the handle.

- Then start shaving. Razors with closed combs only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot make direct contact with the skin. They cut and shorten the beard, which is why you need to perform multiple passes. It's important to shave according to the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as the beard growth. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheek, it may vary on the neck. The direction of beard growth is unique to each man and cannot be changed by the shaving direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Gently hold the razor by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Allow it to glide with the lather and blade. For those new to traditional shaving, our primary goal is a irritation-free shave, not necessarily a perfectly clean one. As you get more accustomed to it (approximately 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will come naturally. Do not go over the same spot repeatedly.

- After the first pass, apply lather to your face again with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction or diagonally for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it's important to soothe this impact. Aftershave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you experience problems like dryness, itching, or redness, use a balm. If you don't encounter such discomforts, you can use a lotion for a lighter effect. Using both is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted situations like irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal components can cause screw deformation; please avoid this. Oiling the metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will add to the lifespan of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper wrapper. Mühle razors are made of rust-resistant Zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend prolonged contact of the surface with a rusty blade.

- While the average number of uses for double-edge blades is 4-5, this is directly related to the razor used, frequency of shaving, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, everyone's number of uses is unique to them. Change the blade as soon as you feel it tugging rather than cutting your beard. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.
