Mühle Safety Razor - closed comb - R 89 Rosegold

The Mühle R89 Rosegold razor is a medium-aggressive safety razor that is in the bathroom of anyone with a traditional shaver, providing the most effective daily shaving result.

This razor consists of 3 parts (upper head - lower head - handle). The machine can be opened by turning its head, and you can put the razor blade between the two heads and then closed.

The head is changeable. In other words, you can turn your closed-comb machine into an aggressive open-comb machine with only head replacement. The same can be applied when there is a change from 3-piece open-comb machines to closed-comb machines.

The head of the closed comb razors can be changed by purchasing a open comb head. The head of the open comb razors can be changed by purchasing a closed comb head.

Head Anatomy

Mühle's closed-comb machines are safe structures where there is a safety bar between the razor and the skin, where the razor can only touch the skin at a certain angle (30-45 degrees range). Since the Razor blade is behind the safety bar and cannot contact the skin directly, it can be easily used by those who will use a classic razor for the first time, and provides a shave that is performance but does not tire the skin in daily shaving.

Mühle's razors with closed-comb can be used by anyone new to traditional shaving. All closed comb razors have the same head and are offered with different handle designs. All are designed by calculating the optimum balance-maneuverability and grip ergonomics.

To whom are Mühle closed-comb razors are recommended?

For users new to traditional shaving

For daily shaving users

For users who are not satisfied with the cartridge Razor blades in daily shaving.

For users who suffer from ingrown hairs after daily shaving

Users who experience irritation, dryness and itching after shaving due to the razor used in daily shaving,

So what is the open-comb structure? What is the difference with closed structure? It is important to know the difference between the two builds to make sure that the razor you buy is right for you.

There is no safety bar in Mühle's open-head shavers. It has a open tooth comb structure instead of the safety bar, and due to the difference of the blade bend angle, the razor can contact the skin directly and at a right angle. They are very close shaving machines that require hand habit. Due to its open tooth comb structure, the beards get inside the comb and the razor can cut the beard closer to the skin.

Why do you need it?

  • Provides a performance and trouble-free shave that does not tire the skin in daily shaving.
  • Since it cuts the beard not from the bottom in one go, but by reducing it, it prevents problems such as ingrown hair and irritation that can be encountered in daily shaving.
  • It protects you and nature as it is an environmentally friendly shaver without plastic waste.
  • Since the razor is the only consumable, it is much more economical in the long run.
  • It is not a disposable razor. As long as you are well cared for, it serves you for a lifetime.
  • It is made of stainless zinc.

About Design

TRADITIONAL - For Traditionalists with High Standards

Classic safety razors, for which you choose the blade, are a revolution in wet shaving and are now one of the most classic shaving accessories. But with Mühle, there's more: ergonomics created for passionate wet shavers, perfect maneuverability with an optimized center of gravity, and of course, excellent craftsmanship...

After a little practice, no one who has mastered the ritual can live without a classic safety razor! Standardized double-edge blades, which have been around for decades, are now much more easily available from many sources than before.

Our models are presented with high-quality chrome plating. They are combined with elegant and high-quality resin in classic metallic, black, or brown colors. An exclusive option is a handle plated with rose gold.

The brushes in the shaving sets are produced with pure badger or Silvertip Fibre bristles and are offered as a complete set, combined with a shaving set stand. The shaving brush heads are replaceable. You can purchase a spare brush head whenever you wish, allowing you to use your brush with a different bristle type or to refresh it.

Traditional classic shaving sets, with their timeless design and material quality that will never go out of style, are with you today and in your future.

How to Use

Use and Tips

- Pre-shave preparation is important for traditional shaving. The skin and whiskers should be softened during shave preparation, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened with the creamy shaving foam, preferably (ideally) with the help of a shaving brush. Moving the brush with foam on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the whiskers.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it inside the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is 3-piece, it will open by twisting its head; if it's 2-piece, it will open by twisting the mechanism on the handle.

- Then, start shaving. Razors with closed combs only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot make direct contact with the skin. They shorten the whiskers by cutting them, which is why you need to shave in passes. It is important to shave in the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as your beard growth. While this direction is top-to-bottom on the cheeks, it may vary on the neck. Every man has a different beard growth direction, and this cannot be changed with the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Gently hold the razor by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Allow it to glide with the foam and blade. Our primary goal for those new to traditional shaving is to achieve an irritation-free shave, not necessarily a perfectly clean one. As you get used to it (after about 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will naturally follow. Do not go over the same spot multiple times.

- After the first pass, reapply foam to your face with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction or in a cross-grain direction for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it is important to soothe this impact. Post-shave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you have problems like dryness, itching, or redness, use balm. If you do not experience these discomforts, you can use lotion for a lighter effect. Using both together is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted situations such as irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to the metal parts will cause screw deformation; please do not do this. Oiling the metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will extend the life of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper. Mühle razors are made of stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend prolonged contact of the surface with a rusty blade.

- The average number of uses for double-edge blades is 4-5, but this is directly related to the razor used, shaving frequency, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, everyone's number of uses is unique to them. Change the blade as soon as you feel it tugging at your beard instead of cutting it. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.
