TATARA Hakkında
The name TATARA (鑪) was inspired by the furnace that master blacksmiths in ancient Japan used to melt steel for Samurai swords. Just like Japanese katanas, our products are made with extreme dedication and attention to detail. Combining this with the obsessive precision of modern engineering.
Based in Porto, Portugal, we are an engineering team passionate about product development. We came together in September 2016 to imagine, design, and develop TATARA's shaving products.
Noticing a market saturation in indistinguishable DE razors, we dare to imagine a clean and elegant safety razor (SR). One strongly supported by minimalism and design, and with the goal of achieving a smooth and efficient shave.
During product development, we experimented with several combinations for blade gap, angle, and exposure. Through safety razor users, we perceived that features like oscillation and blade alignment are actually very important to achieve a comfortable and smooth shave.
By maintaining machining tolerances (0.02 mm), we can reinforce the correct seating of the parts and limit the blade movements between the razor's plate and cap.
However, we realized there were other variables still influencing the shaving experience!
We knew we could help with wet shaving, and we found our mission!
To create outstanding long-lasting products in a sustainable way and provide an enjoyable and comfortable shaving experience.
