A closed head is a structure where a safety bar is present, allowing the blade to contact your skin at a controlled and safe angle.

Closed-head razors are preferred by those new to traditional shaving, who shave daily or every 2-3 days, and those with sensitive skin.

The blade cannot directly contact your skin; it can only contact it at an angle between 30-45 degrees. This provides a controlled and medium-mild shave.

About Design

RYTMO

The Rytmo series is the embodiment of striking yet timeless design. The conical form is complemented by the distinctive area at the chrome-plated base. As with other Mühle designs, these Rytmo designs ensure the piece sits perfectly when hung on its stand.

The Rytmo series is available in high-grade resin in black and blue, or in natural ash wood. All colour and material variations are particularly accentuated by the gleaming, chrome-plated base.

In the stand design, a narrow plastic rim has been inserted directly into the metal. This piece guarantees optimum seating for the brush and razor, whilst preventing scratching of the brilliant chrome surface.

How to Use

- In traditional shaving, preparation is important. For shaving preparation, the skin and beard should be softened, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened by applying the meringue-like shaving cream with a shaving brush. Moving the brush with the lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, place it inside the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is a 3-piece model, it will open by twisting its head; if it's a 2-piece model, it will open by twisting the mechanism on the handle.

- Then start shaving. Closed comb razors only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot make direct contact with the skin. Open comb razors, on the other hand, can make direct contact. These razors cut and shorten the beard, which is why you need to shave in passes. It is important to shave according to the direction of your beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as your beard growth. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheeks, it may differ on the neck. Every man's beard growth direction is different and cannot be changed by the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic razors shave with their own weight. Gently hold the razor by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Allow it to glide with the lather and blade. For beginners in traditional shaving, our primary goal is to achieve an irritation-free shave, not necessarily a completely clean one. As you get used to it (approximately 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will come naturally. Do not go over the same spot multiple times.

- After the first pass, reapply lather to your face with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave again in the same direction or in a cross-directional manner for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it is important to soothe this impact. Aftershave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you have problems such as dryness, itching, or redness, use a balm. If you do not experience such discomforts, you can use a lotion for a lighter effect. Using both together is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted situations such as irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal parts can cause screw deformation; please do not do this. Oiling metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will add value to the lifespan of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper wrapper. Mühle razors are made from a stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend that the surface remains in contact with a rusty blade for a long time.

- While the average number of uses for double-edge blades is 4-5, this depends directly on the tool used, shaving frequency, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, everyone's usage count is unique. Change the blade as soon as you feel it pulling your beard instead of cutting it. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.

- If your shaving brush is made of animal hair, you need to pre-soften it. Soaking the brush in warm water (never boiling) for about 1 minute, allowing the roots of the bristles to get wet, will soften the bristles and prepare them for lathering. If your bristle type is Fibre, you can wet it directly and start shaving.

- Shaving brushes must be rinsed very well after each use and left to air dry. Alkaline buildup that occurs in brushes whose bases are not rinsed well will cause the bristles to fall out after a while, and this is considered user error.

- Do not expose brush bristles to water at a temperature you cannot touch. This will both damage the bristles and ruin the epoxy at the base of the brush.

- We recommend that you do not apply excessive force to the handle while making circular movements with your brush.
