About Design

PURIST

Focusing on the essential is an art. The Purist dispenses with everything superfluous. The series is characterized by gently rounded handles with a wide neck.

High-quality black resin, particularly decorative pieces such as ebony and Karelian birch, and briar, a material well-known to pipe enthusiasts, were used.

The brushes in the series have a knot diameter of 21 mm. They are available with Silvertip badger, Fine badger, and Silvertip Fibre, which is a vegan brush type.

Shaving sets offer different options for every man, with Gillette® Fusion5™, Mach3®, and classic safety razors. The blade systems are not interchangeable within themselves and are all distinct from one another.

How to Use

- In traditional shaving, preparation is important. For shaving preparation, the skin and beard should be softened, and this process should only be done with lather obtained from cream or soap.

- The skin should be softened by applying the meringue-like shaving lather with a shaving brush. Moving the brush with lather on your face for about 1 minute is sufficient to soften and stimulate the beard.

- Open the head of your razor. Hold the blade by its short edge, insert it into the razor, and close it.

- If your razor is a 3-piece model, it will open by twisting the head; if it's a 2-piece model, it will open by twisting the part on the handle.

- Then begin shaving. Closed comb razors only touch the skin at a 30-45 degree angle. They cannot directly contact the skin. Open comb razors, on the other hand, can make direct contact. These razors cut and shorten the beard, which is why you need to shave with passes. It's important to shave according to the direction of beard growth.

- For the first pass, shave in the same direction as beard growth. While this direction is from top to bottom on the cheeks, it may vary on the neck. The direction of beard growth is different for every man and cannot be changed by the cutting direction.

- Do not press. Classic shaving tools shave with their own weight. Hold the razor gently by its handle and do not press it against your skin. Allow it to glide smoothly with the lather and blade. For beginners in traditional shaving, our primary goal is to achieve an irritation-free shave, not necessarily a perfectly close one. As you get more accustomed (approximately 8-10 shaves), clean shaves will come naturally. Do not go over the same spot repeatedly.

- After the first pass, reapply lather to your face with a brush or your hand. For the second pass, shave in the same direction again or in a cross-directional manner for a closer shave (e.g., from ear to cheek, or cheek to ear).

- The skin perceives each blade contact as an impact. After shaving, it is important to soothe this impact. Aftershave products contain highly soothing ingredients. If you have problems like dryness, itching, or redness, use a balm. If you don't experience these discomforts, you can use a lotion for a lighter effect. Using both together is also common; you can apply lotion first, then balm.

- We recommend not shaving against the grain until you are fully accustomed to the razor. This can cause unwanted issues such as irritation or ingrown hairs.

- Mühle classic razors have chrome-plated heads made of metal. Applying excessive force to metal parts can cause screw deformation; please avoid this. Oiling metal parts a few times a year with metal oil will extend the life of your razor.

- After shaving, remove the blade from the razor, dry it, and store it in its paper wrapper. Mühle razors are made of stainless zamak alloy. However, we do not recommend leaving the surface exposed to a rusty blade for an extended period.

- While the average usage of double-edge blades is 4-5 shaves, this is directly related to the tool used, shaving frequency, blade brand, and skin type. Therefore, everyone's usage count is unique. Change the blade as soon as you feel it pulling your beard instead of cutting it. Do not shave with a dull blade, as it will cause irritation.

- If your shaving brush is made of animal hair, you need to pre-soften it. Soaking the brush in warm (never boiling) water for about 1 minute, allowing the roots of the bristles to get wet, will soften the brush hairs and prepare them for loading. If your bristle type is Fibre, you can simply wet it and start shaving directly.

- Shaving brushes must be rinsed very well after each use and left to air dry. Alkaline buildup that occurs in brushes whose bases are not rinsed well will eventually lead to shedding of the bristles, and this is considered user error.

- Do not expose the brush bristles to water that is too hot for your hand to touch. This will both damage the bristles and degrade the epoxy at the base of the brush.

- We recommend not applying excessive force to the handle of your brush when making circular motions.
